Passover Cooking Class with Rabbi Sarah Rosenbaum Jones

Join Rabbi Sarah Rosenbaum Jones to learn how to upgrade your Passover prep!  We will learn how to transform the humble matzah into a delicious Passover granola, and Rabbi Sarah will demonstrate how to create a new treat for next year’s seder plate.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups Matzah Farfel or Matzah sheets crumbled into bite-sized bits

  • 2 cups nuts of your choice, chopped. 

  • ⅓ cup butter or kosher for Passover margarine

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar 

  • ⅓ cup honey

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1- 1 ½ cup dried fruit of your choice, chopped.

*The nut and dried fruit choices and quantities are up to you! Use your favorites. Here are some ideas: 1) Tropical flavors with cashews, macadamia nuts, mango, pineapple, shredded coconut; 2) Apple crumble flavors with almonds, walnuts, apple, golden raisins; 3) PB&J with peanuts, almonds, cranberries, strawberries. Get creative--you can’t go wrong!

Kitchen supplies:

  • Baking sheet

  • Parchment paper

  • Small saucepan

  • Large mixing bowl

  • Spatula 

  • Measuring cups/spoons 

How should I prepare for class?

Please have all of your ingredients and supplies handy. Please preheat your oven to 350° before class—our first step is to put something in the oven. 

Rabbi Sarah is a Reform Rabbi Educator in downtown Chicago. She spends most of her time thinking and teaching about Judaism and chasing her toddler around the apartment.
